One set of terms for everything we build. The framework below applies to every jApps product; each product then has a short schedule covering only what is specific to it. Where a schedule differs from the framework, the schedule prevails for that product.
jApps is the trading name of jApps Software Limited, a company registered in the United Republic of Tanzania and based in Dar es Salaam. Every product named on this site is built and operated by us. Contact: hello@japps.co.tz.
This framework covers this website and the use of our products: SokoVerse, jRoll and StoryClever. Information on this website is provided in good faith and may change as our products change; nothing on it forms a contract or an offer. Using a product means accepting this framework together with that product's schedule.
Our products are at different stages of maturity and we say which is which on each product page. A product that is in pilot or in development may change substantially, and features described for it are plans rather than promises.
Where a product offers accounts, you agree to give accurate information and to keep your credentials to yourself. Accounts are opened by adults; where a product is used by a child, the account belongs to and is operated by the parent or guardian. We may suspend an account that is being used to break these terms, and we will say why.
Do not use our products for anything unlawful, do not attempt to break or probe their security, do not interfere with other people's use of them, and do not misuse personal data you encounter through them. Where a product lets you post content, you keep ownership of it and grant us the non-exclusive right to display it within the product.
The jApps name, logo and the names of our products belong to us, as does the software itself. Please do not use them to suggest a relationship that does not exist.
How we handle personal data is set out in our privacy policy and in each product's own privacy notice. Where a product processes data on behalf of a business customer, the schedule says so plainly.
We work to keep our products available but do not guarantee uninterrupted service, and we may change or withdraw features. For products with paying customers, material changes are notified before they take effect.
We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits or loss of data, except where the loss is caused by our own fraud or wilful misconduct, or where liability cannot be excluded by law, including for death or personal injury. Nothing in these terms removes rights you have under Tanzanian consumer law.
We date each version of these terms and, for material changes, tell account holders before the change takes effect.
These terms are governed by the laws of the United Republic of Tanzania, including the Electronic Transactions Act, Cap. 442, and the courts of Tanzania have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them. Talk to us first: most disputes are resolved by a plain conversation.
Product schedules
SokoVerse is a social commerce platform. We provide the platform; we do not own the goods listed on it, and we do not process payments. Money moves directly between buyer and seller, and sellers are responsible for what they list and ship. jRoll is payroll software for organisations, currently in pilot. Use of jRoll is governed primarily by the written agreement between jApps Software Limited and the client organisation. For employee personal data, the client organisation is the data controller and jRoll is the data processor acting on its instructions. Payroll records are retained for seven years after an employee leaves, as Tanzanian tax law requires, and jRoll's privacy notice sets out the detail.
StoryClever is a learning product used by children under the guidance of a parent or guardian, and accounts are held by the adult, never the child. Its full terms, disclaimer and privacy policy, applying this framework in detail, are published at storyclever.co.tz/legal and prevail for StoryClever.
